Process Support Engineer

Description

Summary:

Process Engineering is to improve processes, equipment, procedures and core competencies. This position will provide direct hands-on engagement with various manufacturing operations and processes

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Production lines and other Process Support sub-groups with a mix of strategic plans and tactical short-term actions to drive and sustain continuous operational improvements. 
  • Provide immediate solutions to daily disruptions encountered by production and other departments in Roanoke. 
  • Use state of the art process engineering and lean methodologies to identify and implement short, intermediate and long-term improvements to manufacturing practices and results.  
  • Work to create operational standard work, leveraging this to improve business performance. 
  • Work with Quality, Controls, Equipment Planning and Maintenance functions to create and secure robust processes, assets and ancillary equipment.   
  • Define manufacturing practices focused on making products with improved consistency and fewer disruptions.  
  • Assist in capital and facility planning activities. Provide process vision and plans with respect to equipment requirements, use, placement and work flow. 
  • Collaborate with CI function to provide time studies, value stream mapping, current state vs. future state assessments, structured problem solving and other CI related actions.  

Requirements

Education/Training:

  • Bachelors or higher degree from accredited engineering college or university.  
  • 1-3 years of experience engaged in process employing a mix of automated, semi-automated and hand assembly operations. 
  • Working knowledge to develop and support an environment employing a mix of automated, semi-automated and hand assembly operations. 
  • Verifiable track record and accomplishments leading operational transformations. 
  • Familiar with a variety of industrial and maintenance practices. 
  • Familiar and practiced with various lean manufacturing practices.  
  • Preferred computer skills in all routinely used Microsoft Office applications. Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Project a plus.
